How Can I Best Clean My Glass?

In order to go about cleaning your glass in the most successful manner, you first need to determine how dirty your piece currently is. We’ve gone ahead and made this easy by dividing the levels of dirtiness that can befall your pieces into three different categories.

We took this approach for a couple of reasons. First, not all stains are created the same - if some have been left for a long time they become a whole different beast to clean and will require a different approach to be successful.

Second, by dividing into levels you are learning the proper maintenance required to stay on top of your cleaning and prevent reaching the stickier situations. With a proper understanding of regular cleaning, you will avoid the higher levels to improve your sessions, save yourself time, and avoid damage to your device.

Level 1 Cleaning - Regular Maintenance

Starting things out simple, we have our regular maintenance needs that encompass minor stains or leftover materials accumulated right after your session. This is going to be the easiest level of cleaning, thanks to the build up being fresh and not having the chase to harden due to air exposure.

Staying on top of this can be quite simple, once you're done with your glass for the day take the time to run it under the sink. This will let water flow through your glass and ensure all the small pieces of material are whisked away before they can even get the chance to build up.

From here you can use q-tips or a cloth to rub off any stains to ensure your wash is as effective as possible. Here you can also scrub off any left overs and get your glass in perfect shape to be stored till the next session.

Level 2 Cleaning - Left Out Over Night

Stepping things up a notch, we have level 2 which is what we’re going to affectionately refer to as the left out overnight level. This is where you are going to see more stains and material build up as a result of stagnant water, heavy use, and a couple days of rest.

When this happens, you are absolutely going to want to break out the isopropyl alcohol to give yourself the extra cleaning boost you need. For example, make sure to flush your DBR Pro of all water and then examine it closely to see where any chazz or other wax materials have built up.

Once identified, you can make use of a q-tip dampened with isopropyl alcohol to work as a scalpel and scrape off unwanted build up. This may take some tip, but with repeated passes you will be able to get even the hardest of stains off.

Level 3 Cleaning - Five Alarm Funk

For the dirtiest, stankiest, and overall most foul of glass pieces there lies only one solution - a good old fashioned isopropyl alcohol bath. This is going to revolve around getting a larger sized zip lock back, carefully filling it with isopropyl alcohol, and then gently placing your glass into the bag.

You want the glass to be fully submerged, so make sure to always add enough isopropyl to the bag. Always err on the side of a larger bag to ensure you're not cut with overflowing isopropyl.

Once it’s in the bag, leave it for several hours to allow it to soak and let the alcohol have time to work away at the larger, stickier, stains. After you’ve let it soak for sufficient time, you can remove your glass and dispose of the leftover liquids. Now your piece should be 100% clean and once you let it dry, ready to use!

As a last resort - should your glass be irreparably clogged due to excessive time left dirty or have any defects as a result - you can always get an entirely new DBR Pro Replacement Bubbler.

While this won’t be necessary 9/10 times, it's good to know that you can always give yourself a fresh start in case things get overwhelming or you / your “friend” accidentally breaks the original component.
